People are going to disappoint you.

Maybe that’s not groundbreaking news to anyone older than 24… but for most of us, it takes a few punches to the gut before it really sinks in.

Like everyone does — I’ve learned this the hard way. It’s usually at the exact moment something good happens in your life. That’s when you find out who’s really on your team, and who was just in the room.

I always start skeptical, but once I bond with someone, I tend to believe they’ll show up for me the way I show up for them. But when opportunities pop up, when you’re leveling up, when you finally get a win, that’s when true colors come out. And sometimes the truth is a shock.

There’s a reason people say “keep your circle small.”

Not everyone clapping for you wants to see you win.

In light of this is a reason to always appreciate the ones that are on your team. I’m lucky enough to have an amazing girlfriend, family, and close friends.

And speaking of wins, I took 1st place in my jiu-jitsu competition yesterday. Five matches, all tough opponents so it was a very hard earned victory. Thank you to my coach, team, and opponents.
